1. Purpose
The Sustainability Working Group (SWG) of the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) is established to promote sustainable practices within the exhibition industry, encourage environmentally responsible boat show operations, and support IFBSO members in their sustainability initiatives. The SWG aims to lead the federation’s efforts in reducing environmental impact, enhancing social responsibility, and promoting economic sustainability.
2. Objectives
- Promote Environmental Responsibility: Develop and advocate for best practices that minimize the environmental footprint of boat shows and related activities.
- Support Members: Provide resources, tools, and guidance to help IFBSO members implement sustainable practices.
- Raise Awareness: Educate members, exhibitors, attendees, and the broader boating community about the importance of sustainability.
- Foster Innovation: Encourage innovation and the adoption of new technologies and practices that promote sustainability in the boating industry.
- Establish Standards: Develop and promote sustainability standards and certifications for boat shows.
3. Scope of Work
- Sustainable Practices: Identify and promote best practices for waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable sourcing.
- Green Certifications: Develop criteria and support members in obtaining green certifications for their events.
- Education and Outreach: Create educational materials, workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness about sustainability issues.
- Collaboration: Work with industry partners, environmental organizations, and other stakeholders to advance sustainability goals.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Establish metrics for measuring sustainability efforts and report on progress regularly.
- Innovation and Technology: Explore and promote innovative technologies and solutions that enhance sustainability in boat show operations.
4. Roles and Responsibilities
- Chairperson: Lead meetings, coordinate activities, liaise with the IFBSO ExCom, and ensure the group meets its objectives.
- Vice-Chairperson: Support the Chairperson and take on responsibilities as needed.
- Members: Actively participate in meetings, contribute to discussions and initiatives, and implement agreed-upon tasks in their respective organizations.
