Diversity and Inclusion Working Group

1. Purpose

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is established to promote and foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the boat show industry. The committee aims to create a more inclusive environment by addressing disparities, advocating for underrepresented groups, and ensuring that all voices are heard and valued within the organization and its member events.

2. Goals and Objectives

Promote Awareness: Increase awareness of diversity and inclusion issues within the boating industry.

Advocate for Equity: Advocate for equitable opportunities and treatment for all individuals involved in the boating industry.

Support Underrepresented Groups: Provide support and resources for underrepresented groups to participate fully in IFBSO activities and events.

Policy Development: Develop and recommend policies and best practices that promote diversity and inclusion within IFBSO and its member organizations.

Education and Training: Organize educational programs and training sessions to enhance understanding and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Benchmarking and Reporting: Establish benchmarks and regularly report on progress towards diversity and inclusion goals.

3. Membership

Composition: The committee shall consist of a diverse group of members representing different genders, races, ethnicities, ages, abilities, and other dimensions of diversity. Members should come from various levels of leadership within IFBSO and its member organizations.

Selection: Members are nominated by IFBSO members and appointed by the IFBSO Ex Com

Term: Committee members will serve for a term of two years, with the possibility of reappointment for one additional term.

Chairperson: The committee shall be chaired by a member appointed by the IFBSO Ex Com.

4. Roles and Responsibilities

Chairperson: The Chairperson will lead the committee, organize meetings, set agendas, and represent the committee in communications with the IFBSO Ex Com and external stakeholders.

Committee Members: Members will actively participate in meetings, contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives, and serve as ambassadors for diversity and inclusion within their respective organizations.

5. Meetings

Frequency: The committee will meet quarterly, with additional meetings scheduled as needed.

Quorum: A quorum shall consist of a majority of the committee members.

Minutes: Minutes of each meeting shall be recorded and distributed to all committee members and the IFBSO ExCom of Directors.

6. Reporting

The committee will report to the IFBSO Ex Com at least twice a year, providing updates on activities, progress towards goals, and any recommendations for action.

7. Evaluation

The committee will conduct an annual self-evaluation to assess its effectiveness in achieving its goals and objectives. The results of this evaluation will be reported to the IFBSO ExCom of Directors, along with any recommendations for improvements
