Sydney Announces New Two-Show Format for 2025 Boating Season
The boating industry in Sydney is evolving its approach to exhibitions with the announcement of two distinct shows for 2025, both organised by the Boating Industry Association (BIA) in collaboration with Mulpha Events.
Sydney Boat Show - August 14-17, 2025
The Sydney Boat Show will take place at the expansive Sydney Showground at Olympic Park from August 14 to 17. This venue offers significantly more display space than the 2024 location and more favorable venue fees for exhibitors.
The August event will feature a diverse range of vessels, including paddle craft, powerboats, and sailboats, with a particular emphasis on fishing – Australia's most popular boating activity. Visitors can expect:
- A giant indoor pool for demonstrations and hands-on experiences
- Dedicated fishing clinics and expert presentations
- Hundreds of boat types, from small kayaks to large offshore powerboats
- Industry forums addressing marine employment challenges in a sector that employs over 35,000 Australians
Exhibitor information will be released on April 23, including floor plans, rates, and marketing opportunities.
Sydney International On-Water Boat Show - November 13-16, 2025
Later in the year, the focus shifts to Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour for the Sydney International On-Water Boat Show. This premium marine showcase will run from November 13-16, featuring:
- In-water displays of luxury vessels and high-performance boats
- Alternative fuel-powered sports boats to luxury motor cruisers
- Foreshore activations and marine lifestyle exhibits
- Twilight viewing experiences taking advantage of Sydney's spring weather
The strategic shift to November provides ideal conditions for on-water activities and aligns perfectly with the start of the Australian boating season.
Industry Impact
This dual-show approach responds to industry feedback, global trends, and public interest. The Australian marine industry generates over $10.12 billion annually, with 75% coming from small family businesses that employ local workers and support local communities.
With nearly one in five Australian households owning a boat or watercraft and more than six million people participating in boating activities each year, these reimagined shows aim to better serve both the industry and enthusiasts across the country's strong marine culture.
